“That was the verdict of our guests and clients.”
When the hotel was built, all standards prescribed at the time by the Ministry of Tourism and Trade were followed. These were major investments — three lifts, the required corridor widths, five-square-metre bathrooms and much more.
“We complied with every regulation and became the first hotel in 50 years to be built according to a modern architectural design and the standards in force at the time.”

It proved to be the right decision, as 90 per cent of the guests came from abroad, and they noticed and appreciated all of these details.
A New Classification and a Fifth Star
A new hotel classification introduced in 2010 brought even more demanding standards. Drawing on our previous experience, we once again invested in the hotel — purchasing wider beds and new mattresses and making all the improvements required to earn the fifth star.
Those investments also proved worthwhile. Guests noticed and praised the changes, and we were particularly proud that when people searched online for a five-star hotel in Belgrade, alongside internationally renowned hotel brands they could also find a Serbian hotel — Zlatnik.

More Than 2.5 Million Guests
Over several decades, more than 2.5 million guests passed through Zlatnik. They included numerous Serbian and international statesmen, senior religious figures, athletes, as well as many prominent people from the public and cultural life of Belgrade and Serbia.
Zlatnik hosted numerous important events, meetings and gatherings, while many notable guests from Serbia and abroad were welcomed with traditional local specialities.
Because of everything that took place beneath its roof over the years, Zlatnik can rightly be regarded as one of the witnesses to the more recent history of Belgrade and Serbia.
Awards That Marked Zlatnik’s History
Hotel Zlatnik received the “Winner of Belgrade” and “Winner of Serbia” awards on several occasions, as well as the “Tourism Flower” award. We were also recognised several times at the Tourism Fair.
In 2005, the Ministry of Trade and Services named us the first Serbian brand, while the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia presented us with the “Ambassadors of Serbian Hospitality” award. In one year, YU Travel magazine also named us “Champion of Tourism and Hospitality”.
“Every award is recognition of the effort and work invested, but I am particularly fond of the decoration awarded by Patriarch German and our guests’ book of impressions, of which we are truly proud.”
